  • So yesterday I was reading about a little girl in India that was born with two faces. She's being revered and worshipped as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.  People come to see her everyday.  We also happened to have our ultrasound yesterday and I was thankful to see that our baby doesn't have two faces.  Everything is normal, at least that's what they told us.  Jerry thinks it bears a striking resemblance to him since they both have big heads.  And he also thinks it looks like a boy.  Why I'm not sure.  I'm attributing that to wishful thinking.  They sent a bunch of pictures home with us.  They've been scanned so they're not quite as clear as the real thing.  The tech labeled a few of them so hopefully you'll be able to make them out.  The one that's labeled nose/lips is actually a nostril shot.  The white spot in the middle of the black is the bottom half of the face.  From the left it's the chin, lips and nostrils.  That one might be a little hard to decipher.  And the foot looks like it's got 15 toes, but they assured me that's normal.

Not much else is new in babyland.  It's taken to kicking me in the bladder.  Yeah, that's fun...can't wait to feel that when it gets bigger.  It feels kind of cold calling the baby an "it" but we don't want to find out the sex so I'm not sure what else to use.  Anyway, until I think of anything brilliant to report on, take care.

  • Well, I guess it's time for me to make an update.  My camera kinda died on me so I have no pictures.  Not like I've had a whole lot to take pictures of.  There really hasn't been much new going on here.  We've still got a bunch of snow here at our house.  There's even a bigger base the higher you go up the mountain.  Our due date was moved up to August 15th.  That means I hit the halfway point this last weekend.  Woohoo!  We have another ultrasound next week so that might change again.

Easter came and went pretty fast.  We had an early service at the top of the ski lift on the mountain.  Couldn't get Jerry out of bed that morning so I had to go by myself.  Let me tell ya, it's pretty chilly riding a ski lift at 6:30 on a March morning.  Still can't believe it's April already.  All my days tend to blur into each other.  Maybe that's because I tend to take a lot of long naps these days.

I've been complaining constantly about how I have absolutely no clothes that fit me anymore.  I'm definitely starting to get a belly, but it doesn't necessarily look like a pregnant belly.  If you didn't know I was pregnant you'd just think I was getting fatter.  Most of the time I'm lounging around in sweats so it's not that huge of a deal.  But when I try to dress for church all I have are clothes that look like they've been shrunk in the dryer.  So on Monday Jerry took me on a shopping spree.  He was sooooo tired of listening to me complaining and then feeling sorry for myself because I don't look presentable in anything.  He was very adamant that I not worry whether or not it was on sale or how much we were spending.  I'm the kind of person who never ever buys anything unless it's on sale.  So this was actually kind of hard for me.  There aren't a whole lot of maternity options in Bozeman to begin with and hardly anything was on sale.  But I tried not to think about it.  We just shopped.  It was kind of like Pretty Woman...except I've never been a prostitute, nor have I ever been to Rodeo Drive.  I'm still not sure how some manufacturers can call some of that stuff maternity.   At one of the stores we went to everything I tried on was an extra-large and was still tight.  And I'm only 5 months along!!!!  It was like maternity clothing for twelve year-olds.  Jerry was a really good sport and actually waited outside the dressing room to see everything I tried on.  He'd normally just drop me off and go to Home Depot or something.  So I was really impressed with him.  Though, he probably only stayed to make sure I bought something.  And I definitely bought stuff.  After totaling up how much we spent I felt really guilty...still feel guilty.  So I think I'll probably return some of it.  Jerry's threatened to cut off all the tags so I can't do that, though.  We'll see, we're getting a pretty big sizable tax return so maybe we can afford to splurge just a little.  Anyway, all is still well here in Montana.  Definitely ready for the snow to be gone, but I'm not going crazy yet.  It's been getting warmer and warmer all the time so hopefully it'll start melting faster soon!!

  • So I'm guessing that pretty much everyone who actually looks at this blog already knows, but...

In case you can't see the picture, or don't get it, we are expecting.  I really wasn't a huge fan of this picture, but Jerry refused to take another one.  So, this one had to do.  Anyway, so far all is well.  We heard the heartbeat yesterday which was pretty cool.  By the way, Jerry and I had a debate on whether a female or male physical is more degrading.  I think we women win that one hands down.  Not sure how that can even be contested.  Anyway, this pregnancy definitely feels more real to me now.  And it was so reassuring to hear that everything is normal.  Luckily I've been feeling really well for the most part.  But, I don't want to jinx anything by being too smug.  My current due date is August 26th which would put me at 12 weeks and a few days.  But my doctor suspects I might actually be a bit farther along than that.  So I'm going in for an ultrasound in two weeks to find out for sure.  Anyway, enough about the baby.

We had a group of guys from home out here last weekend staying at our house.  They came for a few days of snowmobiling.  Jerry's birthday was last week so I decided it would be a nice present for him to be able to go.  He was so thrilled to go snowmobiling again.  We live pretty close to the sled rental shop so we drive by it all the time.  Jerry whines every time we pass the sleds by the side of the rode.  So he was definitely glad to get out there for a couple of days.  Apparently the trails are really rough out here.  Plus, I guess he biffed it pretty good on his last jump.  Like flying over the handle bars and everything.  Thus, since Monday he's been whining practically nonstop about how sore he is.  I really don't have any sympathy for him.  Though, he did have a tooth pulled last week and that wasn't self inflicted so I suppose I can feel a little sorry for him.

I realize that this is really brief, but I've spent about 3 hours staring at the screen trying to think of more things to write about.  But unfortunately, nothing is coming to mind.  So, I'm giving up and cutting this short.  Later!

  • Happy New Year!!!!!  I can't believe that it's actually a whole week into the new year already.  The days just kind of blur all together and time is flying.  So to recap the last few weeks:

We decorated our tree together.  Actually, Jerry did most of the decorating while I was tying ribbon on the ornaments.  It was Jerry's first ever tree decorating experience and I think he did quite well.  My dad always put the lights on our tree at home so I decided to make Jerry do that to start a tradition.  He was actually a pretty good sport about the whole thing.  He doesn't really like all the Christmasy traditions so I was pleasantly surprised.  Though, he did cringe when I turned the Christmas music on.

So there's the finished product.  The pictures are a little blurry.  But you get the point.  Unfortunately, the red lights on the tree only worked for about five days.  A few days after we put the tree up we made the mistake of leaving the dogs in while we were gone for a few hours.  We thought that Kia was ready for it, but not so much.  We got home to find that she had eaten through the light wire (while it was plugged in).  I couldn't believe she hadn't been electrocuted.  Plus, Jerry had left a big pile of chocolate on our coffee table and she ate all of that.  And she pulled half of our clothes out of the laundry bin and drug them all around the house.  So, needless to say we don't leave the dogs inside while we're not here anymore.

Our praise band was invited to sing at one of the resorts around here.  The Big EZ wanted a little dinner music for their guests one of he nights right before Christmas.  So we went up there and did some caroling for dinner in return.  They gave us a five course meal that was absolutey delicious and extremely filling.  They loved us and it sounds like they'll probably invite us back.  That would be great!

It snowed pretty much all day and evening on Christmas Eve.  So after getting back from town (where he was buying my present last minute) Jerry had to go out and plow.  Christmas day was pretty low key.  After plowing for several hours the day and evening before, Jerry still had to get up at 3AM to go back and do some more.  He got back around 8 or so and we opened presents.  I just had to take a picture in front of the tree before we opened gifts just like my mom always did.  So that's our family and then a couple of pictures with some of our presents.

We had invited a bunch of what we call "strays" over for lunch.  Basically other people from our Bible study who didn't go home for the holiday.  So Jerry slept the rest of the morning while I was running around getting ready for company.  Well, nobody came which really didn't bother us a bit.  By the time lunch rolled around we were both exhausted.  So we ate alone and then vegged on the couch watching Christmas movies.  Then we went over to my boss's for dinner.

New Year's was pretty uneventful.  We went out with Jerry's boss and wife. The restaurant we were at had some fireworks.  I could barely stay awake til midnight.  How sad is that?

So that's basically all that's been happening in the last several weeks.  I know, I know we lead such terribly exciting lives.  Man we must have done something besides this...No, I think that pretty much sums it up.  So maybe next time I'll have something just slightly more exhilerating to report on...I probably wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, though.

  • Okay, Okay.  Lin, Sandra, I hope this appeases you.  We FINALLY got internet hooked up at our house again.   I had been checking my email at work for the past six weeks.  We gave up on the monopolized provider and decided to try getting it through our cell phone carrier.  Jerry complains that it's way too slow.  It is slower, but not unbearable.  Uploading pictures takes a little while.  Anyway, I thought I had so many things to write oh so eloquently about.  However, at the moment all intelligent thoughts seem to have escaped me.  So please forgive me if I ramble.  It was so nice to be home, almost everyone was there.  We missed seeing Shy & Co. and Jordan.  Jerry never shot his elk, but at least he got a deer when we were home.  Tif had sick kids again.  Poor Tif, every time she comes home it seems like one or more of her kids gets sick.  She had two this time.  I guess that was already a few weeks ago.  Time is flying by these days.  It's already mid-December.  I'm sitting here listening to one of my many Christmas cd's.  It's my favorite time of the year and I love to soak up every minute of it.  I put lights up after we got back from WI.  So it's already started to look festive around the place.  Jerry went out and chopped down a tree for us last night.  We're going to decorate it tonight after he gets home from work.  It's not the prettiest of trees, but it's definitely a step up from the invisible one we had last year.  Anyway, here's a whole mess of pictures:

Jerry shaved off that awful beard once we got back to Montana.  Here's an in the midst of shaving picture and then an after.  I'm soooooooooo glad he shaved it all off!

We had a Christmas Stroll in the Meadow Vi
llage last Friday and our church praise band sang for it.

That's Amy on piano then Dave on the drums; he's from Eau Claire.  Then it's Jerry, me, Steph on guitar,  and Betsy on violin.  It was a lot of fun except for that high A flat I had to hit in "O Holy Night."  Didn't know I could still sing that high.

So now, three hours later, I've finally gotten all my pictures uploaded and Jerry is home from work.  I guess the other part of Big Sky is having their Christmas Stroll tonight and we're going there for dinner.  So it'll be a full night of Christmas stuff for us.  Great!  Just how I like it.  So I should probably get going.  I didn't get half the things done that I wanted to as it is.  We both got new phones on Monday and I was supposed to transfer all of our numbers today.  Yeah...not done.  Dishes?...not done.  Hooking ornaments...not done.  Oh well.  I'm not really too worried about it.  Later!!

About Me

  • I've been married to Jerry since December 9, 2006. Definitely a Wisconsin farm girl at heart but am posing as a Montana Mountain woman for the time being.
